Honors/Awards: Received several prestigious honors and awards instituted by various National Scientific Bodies/Institutes including Fellowship of National Academy of Medical Sciences (India), SSL Saxena Memorial Award for Best Unpublished Work of National Academy of Medical Sciences, Best Research paper award of ISOT, BK Aikat Oration of Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists, Dr Jai Gopal Mukharjee Gold Medal of Lucknow University and many others.

Credentials: After having worked at MLB medical College, Jhansi as lecturer, Reader and Professor of Pathology, Prof Gupta joined as Professor and Head of Department Pathology at prestigious Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, where he not only developed the Department of Pathology to its present status but also started MD (Pathology) postgraduate program and specialty pathology training and post-doctorate certificate course in Renal Pathology, the only such specialty pathology training program in the country. As Dean and Director of the Institute he made significant academic and administrative contributions.

Prof. Gupta has keen interest in research. Renal Pathology, Transplant Pathology, Cardiac Pathology and Pathology of Opportunistic infections and Tumor Pathology have been some of the specialized areas of his academic activities. He successfully completed more than 20 research projects funded by International, National and Regional scientific bodies and has contributed more than 135 original research articles in various National and International journals of high repute. He has several book references and book chapters to his credit and has published five manuals and proceedings and also a book on “Pathology of Opportunistic Infections in Tropics.”

Prof. Gupta is recognized as academician of high order and has been invited to present several prestigious Orations and Guest lecturers at various National and International Scientific meets. For his academic contributions, he has been conferred with several Honors, Awards and honors. He has held high offices of President of IAPM and had also been the founder President of Indian Society of Renal and Transplant Pathology. He had also been the peer reviewer and on the Editorial board of some of the prestigious medical journals. Many generations of graduates, postgraduates, trainees and residents have benefited by his insight and meticulous teaching and training. Prof Gupta is acclaimed by peers for his original contributions to Renal and Transplant Pathology both at home and abroad.

Besides, Prof Gupta has wide experience of planning, establishing and developing new Hospitals and Medical College as per MCI norms.
